Color is a huge part of my life…from bringing permanent botanicals into interiors, to working with the interior design professionals at Sugarbakers, to consulting with brides about their big day (“What are your colors?”)– to ordering fabulous fresh flowers for wedding, I’m surrounded with an awareness of color.
Imagine my delight at being seated next to a true color expert for Sherwin Williams on a recent flight. And as a bonus, she was on her way home from Maison&Objet in Paris!
“Tell me everything!!!” I said. And she did. I learned alot, got great ideas and was completely inspired.
One of the things that she told me was that blue will be strong for quite some time, blue in many forms. She said to watch for their take on blue, which they would be calling “tidepool” for 2014. You heard it here first!
Another thing she told me was that brown was obviously absent.
Keep an eye on chalk, watercolors (application & colors) textures and textiles.
And when in doubt, buy blue.
We exchanged business cards and discussed the possibility of working together someday. She asked me lots of questions about flowers and my industry as well.
I shared something that I had recently heard my friend Kevin Ylvisaker, AIFD, PFCI say, (and it was something that I already knew)…
Sherwin Williams has a great app. It is an awesome wedding planning tool to help brides with color. It is called ColorSnap, and its available for iphone or android. I use it all the time and its terrific for helping brides visualize what colors are vibrant options for their wedding. Of course its great for homeowners as well, but why state the obvious?
My new friend from Sherwin Williams was thrilled to know that their color app was being used in a different way by a completely different industry. Thats the power of color!
