This morning I had the privilege of hosting some exceptional young women from my neck of the woods. They are all high school seniors in extreme Southern Illinois. In addition to being beautiful, stylish & confident, they also have a spark of entrepreneurial spirit.
When Tracy Orr, the director asked me if they could visit of course I said yes. I wish a program like this existed when I was a senior in high school! It would have saved me so many mistakes, so much money, so much heartache! I want to be the person I needed in younger days to this group.
They arrived at my shop looking well put together and ready to take on the world (or at least White County!) bright and early at 7:30 am.
I taught them how to make botanical rings from fresh flowers. It was a fun project and something I thought they would enjoy wearing throughout the day. I thought it would be fun for them to see how flowers make an ordinary day extraodinary. Flower transform your mood, your expectation, and how people perceive you. Flowers to wear are a terrific conversation starter too!
We had a lovely chat I told them a few of my observations & life lessons spanning my 30 year career. I enjoyed my time with this special group. Seeing glimpses of a younger me in their youthful, hope filled faces made me smile.
Today they walked out into the sunlight and took with them rings they had made. I hope they will also take my best wishes & enthusiastic support as they chase their dreams. Their future is as bright as the sun on this lovely spring day.
