Welcome to Our World

I was recently blindsided by a Christmas song, a favorite that has been out for several years. Just yesterday, it hit me like a train. Not. Kidding. It shouldn’t have; for heaven’s sake, I have the CD, so why it felt like I was hearing it for the first time is beyond me!
The song that grabbed me, made my heart melt and the tears fall, is by Michael W. Smith. I have always loved the song, (and Michael W, but thats another story) This time as I listened on the radio, it just ‘caught’ me, as the good songs tend to do. As the words soaked though the air into my heart, the tears came. I swear, sometimes I am such a dork. So there I am. Crying like a baby. In the drive thru, of all places…..
It was pathetic and wonderful all at the same time.
No reason to be a dork all by myself, so I thought I would share. So, here are the words……
Welcome To Our World, by Michael W. Smith
Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You’ve been promised, we’ve been waiting
Welcome holy child Welcome holy child
Hope that you don’t mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
But long awaited holy stranger
Make yourself at home
Please make yourself at home
Bring your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
Word now breaking heavens silence
Welcome to our world Welcome to our world
Fragile fingers sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorns
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born Unto us is born
So wrap our injured flesh around you
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Rob our sin and make us holy
Perfect son of God
Perfect son of God
Welcome to our world
Indeed. Welcome to our world. To my world. All of it.
Thanks for life, and life more abundantly.
Thanks, Michael W. Smith.
And Jesus.
Thanks, Jesus.
You rock.
